Close up of a hazel colored eye, At Country Hills Eye Center, we're proud to help patients throughout Ogden, UT and the surrounding areas maintain healthy eyes and crystal clear vision. We offer a wide variety of eye care services ranging from simple to more in-depth, but one of the most common ways we help patients improve their vision is one of the simplest: contact lenses. Contact lenses are a convenient, aesthetically appealing solution to vision for many patients, but they can also be nerve-wracking when starting out. If you're getting ready to start using contact lenses, here are a few things to keep in mind to make the whole process run smoother.

Tips for Wearing Contact Lenses

Contact lenses are a wonderful vision solution for patients who don't want to wear glasses, but for those just starting out, the process of using contacts can be difficult. Here are a few simple tips to keep in mind that will help make your transition to contact lenses as smooth as possible:

  • Clean Incessantly: Contacts are one thing you don't want to play around with when it comes to cleaning. Be sure to rinse them and store them in fresh solution each and every time they go on or off your eyes. And as always, wash your hands before putting on or removing your contacts.
  • Follow Your Eye Doctor's Orders: Different contacts are designed to be worn and cleaned on different schedules and with different products, so it's important that you follow your ophthalmologist's recommendations closely for cleaning, wear, and storage.
  • Stay Hydrated: You want your eyes as well lubricated as possible when wearing contacts, and that means you'll want to stay well hydrated and drink plenty of water. It's also a good idea to have eye drops on hand just in case your eyes start to feel too dry – just make sure they're compatible with your contacts.
