Dr. Dastrup Received his BA in music from Brigham Young University and his MD from Columbia University college of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Indiana University, and a Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery fellowship at the University of Minnesota.
He specializes in corneal transplants, including full and partial thickness transplants, Keratoconus treatment, and Collagen Cross Linking. He also performs cataract surgery offering both standard and advanced technology lenses. He feels one of the most rewarding aspects of practicing is helping patients with their specific vision needs. Dr. Dastrup is committed to helping improve his patients’ vision so they can continue to do the things they love.
Dr. Dastrup has participated in a humanitarian and educational trip to Accra, Ghana with the Latter-day Saints charities, teaching cornea and surgical techniques to Ghanian ophthalmologists at a charity eye center. He is also part of the Leadership of the Utah Ophthalmology Society, and a Cornea Society Member.
When Dr. Dastrup isn’t working with patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife, four daughters and son, and playing the viola in the Orchestra at Temple Square.
